Shimano PD-MX80 Saint Pedals

For a long time running, DX Flat pedals fulfilled the needs of the BMX and mountain biking market with a solid aluminum body, adjustable traction pins, and legendary Shimano serviceability. It's safe to say that pedal is a now a classic. Much has changed over the years, however, and the PD-MX80 Saint Pedals address the needs of modern riders and their tacky shoes. One of those issues is with the traction pins. They are essentially set screws with a headless, internal Allen drive that's easily damaged by rocks and impacts, and then the Allen head would no longer be usable. For the PD-MX80 Saint Pedals, the pins screw in from the back of the platform. This solved the dilemma of not being able to remove pins once damaged, but sacrifices one of the DX defining features -- adjustable pin height. Because the pins threaded into the body, you could thread them in to a height depending on traction needs. To work around this, Shimano includes washers with the PD-MX80s so you can lower pins where necessary and fine tune the pedals to your shoes and personal preference. There are nine pins in total that thread into the low-profile alloy body. The new platform mirrors current market trends, placing your foot closer to the axle, and its large openings are optimized to shed mud. The Shimano PD-MX80 Saint Pedals feature durable chromoly axles and sealed cartridge bearings to ensure mountain biking strength for the park and shuttle run after shuttle run.

  • Concave platform shape for long ride comfort and pedaling efficiency
  • Replaceable pins
  • Market proven axle durability
