Made exclusively for your front wheel, the Yksion Pro Griplink Clincher Tire relies on a dual compound and front wheel specific tread pattern to improve cornering on hair-pin turns in dry or wet conditions. With a matching, stealthy color, the Yksion Pro Griplink Tire is the perfect complement to Mavic's Exalith treated clincher rims -- Mavic's identical matching of the SSC logo to the wheel isn't lost on us, either. However, the smooth black sidewall is more than just a window dressing. The tread rubber is thickest in the center where it experiences the most wear, and it thins out progressively towards the bead. The result is a sidewall that resists cuts on gravel strewn roads, as well as retaining a clean aesthetic. To further protect against punctures, Mavic also included a Kevlar breaker underneath the tread. Even with these safeguards, the Yksion Griplink is still a lightweight clincher tire. And true to its name, it corners like crazy with Mavic's dual compound design. This places rubber with a 60a durometer in the high mileage center portion of the tread. Rounding out the design is a grippier 60a S+ high silica rubber on the shoulders. The 60a center is even softer than Mavic's Powerlink rear tire counterpart, but with the typical rear heavy weight bias on road bikes, the softer tread is more than durable enough to wear evenly with the rear tire. Even better, it yields far better grip through corners. The 127tpi casing adds a sensation of supple responsiveness.
