A New Hope for Front Derailleurs, Because They Suck

Front Derailleurs are probably the most annoying part of any bike. They never quite work right and if you don't know how to adjust them you can get yourself in trouble if you try to. If there was any part of the bike that was ripe for some kind of innovation, the front derailleur would be it!

And now it's finally happenend thanks to a small polish company called Efneo.  Check out the videos.  It's a pretty amazing product that I would love to have on my bike.  It eliminates a lot of issues caused by the front chain rings and derailleur like:

  • Cross gearing i.e. having your front in the lowest gear, but back sprocket in the highest, not good!
  • Not possible to shift while stationary, this is a an issue in the front and rear and really sucks if you get stuck on a hill
  • Overall finicky nature of the front derailleur, if you've ridden a bike you know what I'm talking about

This awesome little invetion could change ALL that!  They've created a simple, inexpensive, internally geared system for you front gears.  These guys should totally start a kickstarter for this, I know I would contribute.
